Children’s Rights

Issues of trafficking, child labour, child marriage and child abuse are prevalent in Uttarakhand. The transition of girl children to higher education is particularly low in the hills. Engaging with children and ensuring their protection and education are central to our efforts. Until 2023, we also coordinated the Child Helpline in Pithoragarh district.

Our work with children is mainly to:

• Collaborate with school management committees to reduce dropout rates and reintegrate children into the educational system
• Partner with women elected representatives to improve school infrastructure, including access roads
• Promote measures to prevent and address child trafficking, labour and exploitation
• Provide support for children who are victims of abuse and violence
• Initiate legal actions against cases of child abuse.
